It’s official! Travel times between Izone, central Christchurch and the Port of Lyttelton will reduce significantly thanks to an announcment last month by the Minister of Transport to bring forward construction of the Southern Motorway.

Over the New Year period St John Ambulance opened a new station at the entrance to Izone from Jones Road. The station is manned 24/7 by a team of 38 volunteers, some of whom stay in the office overnight.

Piezone Pies, fish ‘n’ chips and stone-grill meals will be on the menu when the eagerly anticipated Cafe Izone opens its doors in mid April. Owner operators Steve and Shelley Trigg from Rolleston are building a 50-seater cafe/restaurant, a lunch bar and a fresh fish ‘n’ chip shop, as well as a boardroom available for hire.
